Setting
up a new team? A new management team? Changing an existing team?
Need help in facilitating specific outcomes for a team
of any variety? Thinking of moving to a team based organisation?
Contemplating introducing self managed teams? Some of your teams
not working? The team leader needs some support, coaching and development?
Dr Kevin Griffiths has worked effectively for many private and
government organisations covering all that is indicated above.
His main approach which has led to significant success, measured
as performance improvement, is viewing the performance needs of
the group as the major outcome to be acheived.
A common approach used by The Team Doctor sees:
1. The consultant familiarises himself with the team in question
gathering the perspectives of the client/team leader, team members
and other significant players.
2. A methodology is developed to achieve the desired outcomes identified.
This can include surveying the team on functioning and performance
issues; using the Team Profile to capture feedback data on high
performance team criteria; using preference instruments such as
the TMI and MBTI; providing 360 feedback to the team leader on
his/her functioning and performance; and basing the intervention
around the high performance team 'anchors' (purpose, vision, measurement,
gameplan, roles and responsibilities and ground rules). Tailoring
to the needs of the team is critical.
3. The intervention gameplan is carried out with an ongoing presence
- and evaluated.
